Natural Cure for Rheumatoid Arthritis Pain

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation of the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis is a common rheumatic disease, affecting more than two million people in the United States. RA is a systemic disease, often affecting extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and muscles. About 60% of RA patients are unable to work 10 years after the onset of their disease. Rheumatoid arthritis is two to three times more common in women than in men and generally strikes between the ages of 20 and 50. But rheumatoid arthritis can also affect young children. Patients with autoimmune diseases have antibodies in their blood that target their own body tissues, where they can be associated with inflammation. The joints are usually affected initially asymmetrically and then in a symmetrical fashion as the disease progresses. The pain generally improves with use of the affected joints, and there is usually stiffness of all joints in the morning that lasts over 1 hour. People with these genes will not automatically develop RA. In some families, multiple members can be affected, suggesting a genetic basis for the disorder

Rheumatoid arthritis is associated with a variety of forms of vasculitis. Rheumatoid arthritis is different from osteoarthritis, the common arthritis that often comes with older age. RA can affect body parts besides joints, such as your eyes, mouth and lungs. Rheumatoid arthritis affects people differently. For some people, it lasts only a few months or a year or two and goes away without causing any noticeable damage. Other people have mild or moderate forms of the disease, with periods of worsening symptoms, called flares, and periods in which they feel better, called remissions. RA usually affects joints on both sides of the body equally. Wrists, fingers, knees, feet, and ankles are the most commonly affected. RA is a diffuse systemic disease involving many areas of the body. The presenting complaint may be remote from a joint or may involve inflammatory symptoms at a joint. Rheumatoid arthritis occurs in all races and ethnic groups. Although the disease often begins in middle age and occurs with increased frequency in older people, children and young also develop it.

Don't Hit the Mountain Bike Trail Without These Accessories

There's more to mountain biking than just getting a cool bike. Mountain biking can be a dangerous sport - as is any sport where you're heading downhill at speed.

The younger generation has a tendency to think it is invincible, and so will not bother with the common sense safety gear that could save them from unnecessary bumps, bruises, cuts or breaks. Of course, even with all the safety gear, those bumps, bruises, cuts and breaks can happen, but they'll more than likely be less severe.

Bike helmet

The helmet is not really an "accessory," is an essential part of the mountain biker's gear. Every mountain biker is going to fall off his or her bike at one time or another - and the helmet will very likely come in for a beating - much better than the rider's head. Helmets these days are comfortable and come in an array of styles. Make sure you purchase one which fits properly.

Eye protection

Second only to the helmet, eye protection such as goggles are a must. Going downhill at speed, it's easy for your tires to kick up rocks or dirt that, if they get in your eyes, will blind you and cause you to run off the trail and into a tree, as often as not. There's always the chance that mosquitoes, midges, or other no-see-ems will get into your eyes, which is why goggles are better than glasses or sunglasses - although they will serve.

Once you've got the helmet and eye protection out of the way, everything else can safely be classified as "accessories," which would definitely be nice to have but are not mandatory.

Trail repair kit

Of these types of accessories, perhaps the most important is the trail repair kit. You may be able to ride your entire life on the streets of your city without getting a flat tire, but when you're going cross country or down mountains, the chance of getting a flat tire rises exponentially. You don't want to get stuck on the trail - so make sure you have a repair kit underneath your bike seat. And just as important - practice with that repair kit so that you actually know how to use the tools!

Gloves

It is more comfortable to ride any bike with gloves than without them. Mountain bike gloves ar specially designed to withstand the harsh conditions under which they're used, and not only will they save you stress in just gripping the handlebars, but they'll also prevent any nasty scrapes should you take a header.

Hydration system

Nothing ruins the ride more than feeling hungry or thirsty while you're in the middle of it... but thirst probably is more annoying than hunger. Bring a water bottle at the very least. A hydration backpack also fits the bill - all this is is a specially fitted backpack with liquid of your choice in various containers, fitted so that they feel almost weightless.

Shoes

For many types of biking, your average tennis shoe will work just fine. But for mountain biking, shoes made specifically for the sport are pretty nice to have. You want them to be comfortable, durable, and suited to t heir purpose - which is to keep your feet safe and injury free while you ride. They come with stiff soles for better efficiency while pedaling, and you can get them for clip or clipless pedals.

Shorts

Padded shorts are a must for any type of biking! It increases the comfort of the ride no end (along with a gel-filled saddle!)

Do Clothes Horses Wear Polo Shirts?

If clothes make the man, dressing for success is done one pant leg at a time. A scientist needs a white lab coat. Both male and female executives need to be well coiffed in tailored suits, but the female executive has a chip on her shoulder from hitting her head on the glass ceiling. Politicians, with their hands out and talking out both sides of their mouths, should wear conservative suits accessorized, of course, with flag pins.

Accessories are an important part of the look. A professor with a worn briefcase looks like he knows more than a professor with a new briefcase. Add patches to the elbows of the professor's tweed jacket and gray, unruly hair and you've got a professor who looks more than tenured. He's looks twelveured. Patches on a NASCAR driver's jacket and badges on an eagle scout's uniform, however, aren't accessories. They are real signs of achievement.

A few years ago yellow was the power color. To look powerfully successful men wore yellow ties. I knew yellow was a power color as soon as I got married. In fact, seeing a traffic light turn yellow still has the power to make John drive faster.

Many people think wearing designer clothes - any color - makes them look important; but my grandmother never understood why people paid more for clothes that had labels on the outside. She thought wearing the Nike swoosh or the Polo horse was like wearing a one-sided sandwich board.

Prominent actresses dress in designer gowns for award ceremonies, but today's starlets undress for success. Fully clothed, many couldn't act well enough to act like actresses.

Teenagers want to dress like their favorite stars. It's copycat chic - boys in clothes too big and girls in clothes too small. Teens must expect their stars' fame to wear off on them.

When my boys were growing up, dressing for success meant wearing their "Sunday best" - no t-shirts, no jeans, no sneakers. Clothes were Sunday best if wearing them made the boys groan, "Do I have to?"

My boys think they're lucky because dressing for anything in Southern California is casual. I'm casual in black. Wearing black is convenient because everything matches. Unfortunately, the only place I look dressed for success is at funerals. In fact, the only place I'm sure I'll see a man wearing a tie is in a casket. Heaven must be formal.
